making popsicle snowflake sticks
we made a LOT of them, it was so much fun and glitter was everywhere! we love glitter! :)
when we were done, we hung it up like a chandelier from the ceiling between the kitchen and living room :) so we walked under it everyday :)
glow in the dark sticks in the bathtub!
all 3 boys took a bath together playing with the glow sticks but isaiah had to step out because he was too big so baby nathan and jordan had fun in the dark for a good 45 minutes :)
hair gel and food coloring!
baby nathan loved this and its mess free! :)
homemade snow globes!
we re purposed jars from applesauce and pickles :)
filled it up with water and added our favorite, glitter!
we super glued the dollar store glass bear and snowman onto the caps but when in water, the superglue did not hold it so it floated around which was fine :) jordan LOVES snow globes, he would sit and stare at the glitter floating around for a long time.. i plan on making better ones for him for next year :)
tryin to get nathan to let me use his fingers to make garland around his christmas tree foot but he was not letting me... i had to use my own. he allowed me to use his foot though which was nice :)
sprayed paint the frame from thrift store. and there it is my 3 boys feet :)
homemade handprints :)
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup water
- Food coloring
- Cookie sheet
- String or ribbon
- Colored marker
- Cookie sheet
- Wax paper
- Rolling pin
- Mix the water and food coloring (any color you want) together.
- Add in the flour and salt and mix together. The dough should be pretty stiff.
- Form dough into a ball about the size of a tennis ball.
- Roll out the dough on a large piece of wax paper into as a round a shape as possible leaving it about 1/2 inch thick.
- Spread out your fingers, center your hand over the dough, and press deeply. Make sure you do not press all the way to the bottom.
- Use a pencil to make two holes through the dough at the top of the circle.
- Place on a cookie sheet and cook at 200 degrees for 2-3 hours. Check periodically to ensure that it does not burn.
- When it is finished it should be hard. Allow to cool and then decorate. You can write your name on it, write a message to your mom, or draw pictures on it.
- Cut a piece of string or ribbon about one foot in length. Tie this string through the two holes at the top and tie together. This beautiful decoration can now be hung on the wall.

I gave nathan the bag and he took his time trying to figure out whth he was supposed to do with it. touching the sponges with his little fingers and thumbs.
i helped him move the sponges around and shortly after he went crazy picking the bag up, shaking it, and throwing it. it was so awesome that it was MESS-FREE!

JELLO ART!
Nathan Loves going into the refridgerator and look at the food then sometimes pull out food he wants to eat at the moment. While the Jello was in the fridge processing into well, Jello. Nathan was curious about the Jello when he saw it in the fridge. I had to distract him away from the Jello and when the Jello was ready. boy was he ready too! :)
In the highchair faced with the Jello squares, he was extremely curious. He watched me take a bite and looked at me unsure. Then he touched the Jello and i yelled wiggle wiggle! :) I picked up the Jello and wiggled it while i wiggled making him laugh! :) ( we did more wiggling when we were done playing with the Jello) We stacked them up into towers as high as we could stack them up. The Jello was slippery, it would fall sliding down. Everytime it fell, Nathan would laugh and smile! He had a LOT of fun playing with Jello. He kept touching the Jello with his thumb which i thought was cute :) I wished i had shape cookie cutters for shapes but ill keep in mind to grab some next time im at the arts n crafts store. Jello art is a LOT of fun :)
This was the beginning, exploring with his thumbs.

The ART of Ripping! :)
Nathan LOVES to hide in daddy's closet... but who can resist paper to play with?
Nathan tried to rip the paper independently but his little fingers kept slipping, he couldnt get a grip with the white loose leaf paper. so mommy helped him by holding the paper and he used both hands to tear the paper! He had to focus and loved how the one peice of paper became TWO!
I LOVE paper!
Working on the white loose leaf paper again independently.
The tissue paper is so EASY to rip! watch me RIP!
Nathan Ripped the paper into thousand peices! He sat quietly for about 30 minutes focused and enjoyed the paper ripping fun :)

Father and Sons
Jason and the boys did an art project together while I was out running errands. I had found these cute small tote bags at the dollar store. There also were some fabric paint there. Since it was raining outstide, I gave them that art project to do together.

SENSORY TURTLE.
I decided to put the pool to more use. When its in the Art studio it is called the SENSORY TURTLE.
I found some gift bag decor at the dollar store that was perfect for baby nathan. He could be fully immersed in it. Its shiny with a smooth and rubbery feel.
Nathan would only stay in the turtle for about 30 seconds! :( He wasn't sure about it and when he stepped out, the green strings sticked to his feet. He examined his feet and pulled the green strings off, throwing it away from himself. Isaiah and Jordan had more fun discovering the sensory.

Ice ART
I got this idea from the Parents Magazine.
You take tempura paint and put a dime sized amount in each space.
Fill it up with water and stir it with a q-tip or toothpick.
The paint will settle
Mix the paint and water until the paint does not settle anymore.
Put in freezer until its frozen
Isaiah really enjoyed this project.. He kept saying "its cold!"
Jordan enjoyed this project as well but he was impatient and wanted to play outside and ride his scooter.
Nathan was VERY interested in this project, he watched his big brother make art. He would reach and touch the ice paint every now and then.
He finally decided to make his OWN art design :) He took his time using the black sponge and getting his fingers all messy. He did NOT put this in his mouth! i was so glad he didnt! :)
Finished work!
WAX ART
While Isaiah was Gone for the week in Tennessee. Jordan and I worked hard on the basement preparing a surprise for Isaiah when he got back from Tennessee. When the basement was done, I wanted to add some art work on the walls. For a quick preparation, I remembered a favorite art project in high school that had to do with the iron. Knowing Jordan, he would be really curious with this project. :)
All you need is a peice of paper, crayons, and the good ol iron.
Look at Jordan's curious face! He really enjoyed doing something "daring" with my supervision.
I used this project to educate about crayons, wax, melting, shapes, texture, and smell. Jordan asked a LOT of questions. It was FUN :)
Jordan thought he was done with the project. I encouraged him to continue by asking him what does the wax dripping look like to him. He said DINOSAURS! So he drew the brown UPSIDE down dinosaur and the green dinosaur. Then we discussed about upside down by turning the paper over and over. The green dinosaur and the brown dinosaur alternate being upside down. He is so cute, we had fun with the project. :)
ROCK AND ROLL ART
Isaiah is HOME from Tennessee, He LOVED the new basement turned ART STUDIO! :) Now I wanted to do a simple project that all the kids could do. Quickly and to add more and more COLOR in the basement :)
For this fun project you need paint (I used tempra paint), aluminum foil, a surface (i used glass pan, cookie sheet works well too), and good ol marbles!
Nathan LOVED this project. I had to keep a close watch, he started to put his paint fingers in his mouth! yuck!
SHADOW ART
This Art project never was completed, The boys didnt put their Shadow faces away properly and it got bent and dirty. I plan on REUSING the Papers for my personal COLLAGE project. I still want to do more SHADOW ART in the furture and discuss Shadows more in depth with the kids. This face shadow tracing is a lot of fun and whoever reads this should try it out! :)
The flash from the camera took out the shadow :( so you can't see the shadow. Jordan moved a lot, his nose itched, his leg was getting tired, and he sneezed lol. I tried to go as fast as I could! Isaiah had his shadow face done too but no pic :(
After the shadow face tracing, the boys worked on filling in the faces. Isaiah told me that he "wasn't in the inspiration mood". He held off and I encouraged him to go work on it the next day.
